Ritchie Bros reports 53% increase in profit

Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers Inc. reported earnings of US$14.9-million (US42 cents a share), for the quarter ended Sept. 30, a 53% jump from the period a year earlier powered by higher demand for construction equipment around the globe.

Lawren Harris works up for auction

At the last Heffel Fine Art live auction in Vancouver in May, the Lawren Harris painting Pine Tree and Red House, Winter, sold for a record $2.85 million.
It set the tone for a record $22.8-million auction that almost doubled the previous Canadian record. Four paintings sold for over $1 million.

It’s buyer beware at a “high value jewelry” auction in Saskatoon this weekend, warns the province’s consumer protection branch.
Heritage Auctioneers Alberta Ltd. is advertising the auction items as “magnificent pieces of jewelry” and “high value jewelry confiscated for non-payment.”
