Rogers Spending Big in Canadian Spectrum Auction

Rogers Communications Inc. was the biggest spender through 22 rounds with 35 high bids totaling $634 million. Other high bidders include Telus Communications Co. with 60 high bids totaling $558 million and 9193-2962 Québec Inc. with 22 high bids totaling $491 million.

According to Ric Prentiss at Raymond James & Associates, the Canadian AWS auction soared past the 80 cents per MHz/pop mark during round 21, and further climbed during round 22 to nearly $2.7 billion. The latest round saw an additional $84 million in revenue through 47 new high bids. The U.S. auction ended with nearly $13.7 billion in total winning bids.
